Whenever I feel a pang of wanderlust I end up zoning out in front of the computer for hours searching for flights and making bucket-lists of things to do and places to explore. For me there are two types of vacations: 1. unplugging everything and checking out or 2. throwing on sneakers, exploring sights, and taking in as much history as possible. During my latest wanderlust session I yearned for something tropical, someplace where I could shut everything off (except my camera of course), and just relax and be pampered.
Even though I had my share of tropical vacations last year, for 2015 I want something a little different; a destination that my entire Instagram-timeline hasn’t gone to yet. Who hasn’t seen the same three or four destinations all over their feeds?! It’s the perfect opportunity to be a trendsetter! I came across a gorgeous property in Bermuda, THE HAMILTON PRINCESS & BEACH CLUB, a Fairmont managed hotel. The Hamilton Princess just recently got a $90 Million facelift and has become the destination for a luxurious getaway. Their wide selection of guest rooms and suites offer beautiful views of the harbor, garden, pool, or the city. I have my heart set on staying in their newly renovated wing. The wing has one-bedroom suites and deluxe rooms and would be the most perfect escape from everyday life. I told myself (and my husband ha!) before we got married that we have to go on a honeymoon every year so as I explore more details about the Hamilton Princess, my Honeymoon 2015 goals are becoming more complete. Happy wife, happy life! The aesthetics of the rooms are an escape in itself, the color palettes are so calming with all shades of tan and blue. They were inspired by the island and ocean, and seriously look like the perfect place for both mind and body to check out.
How stunning are these photos?! The bathroom has me feeling some type of way with the huge tub, harbor view, and amazing natural light (for selfies obviously!). The harbor rooms overlook their brand new saltwater infinity pool as well as the stunning Hamilton harbor. My hair is testy and is a mess for days whenever I swim in regular chlorine pools so ever since I discovered saltwater pools I’ve been obsessed and my hair always looks amazing just air-dried – so the new addition came just in time! The harbor welcomed the all new Princess Marina this spring, the only full service marina on the island that’s able to accommodate all types of boats, even super yachts! The hotel provides several services and packages for guests related to the new marina. On board catering for a yacht party? Yes, please! But to be more realistic for me and my trip: a picnic basket for a romantic day-trip for two, haha. I’ll take it!
Next to the marina is a gazebo-style bar and grill, “1609”, Bermuda’s only open-air harbor view restaurant making it an absolute must during a visit. Just from photos I can tell the views of the port are absolutely breathtaking, I can’t imagine what it’s like in person! Another new addition to the hotel is the Princess’ beach club, located at an exclusive private beach on the South Shore filled with hammocks to relax in, both on the beach and in the water. Yes, in the water like all the photos we see on Tumblr while we’re stuck at home and green with envy! For a quieter and more private dining experience, the beach club offers a cabana restaurant with a menu created by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson. I always come back from vacation a few pounds heavier and a lot softer around the edges. I love to eat and try new things while abroad so I cannot wait to indulge in beachfront local food all while lounging over the water!
The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club is one of Bermuda’s oldest and most iconic hotels. This year they have celebrated 130 years of caring for the island’s visitors and have always been well known for the experience they provide for their guests. I can’t wait to experience their hospitality while taking in Bermuda’s sights one day, hopefully in the near future! I’m keeping this destination at the top of my list!
