Happy Valentine’s Day from Carmel-by-the-sea, California!
Waseem and I ventured out to explore a little bit of California for the first time after a year of living here. Our new home-state has so much to offer and it took us forever to decide where to go! We decided to go for a super laid back Valentine’s weekend up north. We went on a hike earlier today, took a long nap afterwards, and now we’re getting ready to head to the spa in a bit. Needless to say it’s not a very glam weekend so my walk-around makeup bag is much lighter than usual – a little skin & lip protection, and a couple products to lightly freshen up.
I’m awful at remembering to touch up my lipstick so I knew I was going to forego wearing a proper lip color this weekend. If I can’t remember to look in a mirror during dinner I’m not going to remember during a hike or a massage lol! I have a few different flavors of the new Vaseline Lip Therapy tins and always have one in my purse so I grabbed the pink shade, Rosy Lips, and tossed it into my weekend bag. I’ve used Vaseline jelly my whole life to sooth my dry skin, not just my lips, so I love being able to carry a little tin with me. Vaseline jelly locks in moisture and is completely pure; it won’t clog your pores, it’s hypo-allergenic, non-irritating, and is refined & purified. I was totally obsessed with the tiny jars a few years ago but for me and my long nails they just weren’t practical, the flat tins are so much more convenient. The tins are inspired by the original 1880’s iconic packaging and have just made it stateside after being available in the UK, yay! The Rosy Lips formula gives a soft tint and smells like rose, vanilla, and red berry, yummy!
The tins are available at Target & target.com!
The rest of the items in my makeup-bag are all fairly simple as well, a few things to just keep me fresh!
- My makeup during the day has been kept super simple so I don’t have to worry about any smudging or fall out, to control any shine or creasing under my eyes I just keep Tarte’s Smooth Operator Finishing Powder and my Japonesque Fluff Concealer Brush on deck. A little dab and swirl of the powder keeps all my fine lines at bay and gives me a fresh, matte finish.
- Before I put my makeup on, or routinely if I’m not wearing any, I apply a sunscreen! I’m a huge believer in Dr. Dennis Gross skincare and use several of their products daily so I packed Dr. Dennis Gross Dark Spot Sun Defense.
- A product I like to prime my face with before makeup is YSL’s Touche Eclat Blur Perfector. It transforms from a balm to a powder and blurs away fine lines, pores and imperfections. I like to wear it even when I’m not wearing any makeup to polish up any areas that need a little help. Although I can’t touch up my makeup with this product I like keeping the compact on me, the packaging is so chic and the mirror is a great size!
