I know I sound like a broken record when it comes to this but.. it makes me soo freaking happy to see Desis diving into things “out of the box” and succeeding. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think there’s ever been a Desi Miss USA (??).. this year we DID crown our very first Indian Miss America though (different org for you non-enthusiasts!), so we are on our way I’m sure of it!! I love the progression and the fact that we’re slowly beginning to represent in the media and industry.
Having South Asian roots isn’t the purpose of this post – it’s just a little tangent that makes me feel proud. I’m happy that the next generation won’t feel so different or alienated. It’ll be nice to be able to watch Miss USA and think “hey! she kind of looks like me!” and feel just as American as the blonde haired blue eyed girl walking next to her. Diversity and progression make me squeal inside hehe.
Aaaaaanywho!! This beauty is 2014’s Miss New Jersey USA & her name is Emily Shah! With quite a few crowns & sashes under her belt I’m excited to see her rock the Miss USA stage this summer. Rolls eyes – i see someone has decided to write an essay! Everytime i see the comment threads on Irene’s page I wonder that she’s even nice enough to comment and reply back. Full of righteous holier than thou attitudes – tiresome and tedious.
You know what I do apologize, you did end up supporting her. It’s not only this time but I have seen it several other times and that like I mentioned is upsetting cause the ones that mean well get screwed too and it kinda makes Islam look bad. I totally understand the frustration cause the ones coming from bad place are so wrong, and I can’t imagine how much it hurts, but like again I see some of the good ones being thrown under the bus, and not just by you but your friends and who ever else, and it would be nice to see you back them or take it positively. I haven’t really seen you before take these comments positive so that is why. I’m sorry you go through it and I’m sorry I came off rude, just upset. I’ve been following you since even before your videos, saw you in the decimal brothers videos and was obsessed, your gorgeous. Loved you all the way through, then seeing the way you responded to some of these people (the better ones that meant well, not counting the assholes) just wrecked things. you are such a gorgeous bubbly girl don’t get me wrong but seeing that… the attitude just doesn’t suit you. I’m just saying don’t bring yourself down to the level of the extremists, but please still see the ones that mean well and respond better. In terms of the shirk thing yea its ok to compare someone to these other things, even the prophets compared angels to humans in terms of intellect, you can totally use these to give chracteristic to humans or objects when describing, but the biggest is “there is no god, except allah swt, only 1. this is one thing that seems that literalness needs to be taken to account, lol its god. but to each there own- you take it that way fair enough i respect that, again your prob far better than me, who am I to judge. your a pretty girl don’t bring yourself to the wrongs of others ignore them, and i ask please just keep sticking up for the ones that mean well, you’re our sister too. sorry if i hurt you in anything that was said. Hi Irene. This isn’t related to the post but I noticed a post that you responded to in such a negative way like you always do when there is bad reception to your posts. One girl KINDLY was just giving some beneficial advice saying, “godess” is haram. What did you? AS USUAL mock and make fun of that person, who probably is a loyal follower of yours. Why does it hurt you so bad when a muslim gives you constructive critcism, you just make your own people look bad and give everyone else the permission to attack muslims, cause you do it. Trust me I see a lot of shit that muslims say and yea they talk a lot of shit and are wrong for a lot of things- but there are genuine followers of yours that care about you and wish the best for you, that too comes with looking after you as a muslim. You would think someone such as yourself wouldn’t act so uneducated and spend the time, cause god knows you have all the time in the world to comment on every damn comment, to see what she was saying and if it was right or wrong with respect to calling someone a goddess. When you realize the truth in the answer then maybe respond to peoples well meant suggestions in a kind manner, it doesn’t hurt you to say oh thanks i’ll look into it, thanks, I will work on it inS, or just explain yourself, cause your human and just like anyone else you have the right to what you do. If you checked, even tho you weren’t being literal, IT IS SHIRK, which is the worst kind of sin, your giving something or someone else what god is alone. I unsubscribed in every way, I hope others will to because you are not a nice person and cant take criticism at all, especially the good kind. No muslim should ever be offended with advice about the religion, it is up to you to look into. Yea it is fair when people say and I too did think this way,”maybe she has a deeper connection to god that the ones talking a lot of shit don’t” but the way you react and the things you say speak volumes about the person you are, It has become hard to give you the benefit of the doubt. You don’t necessarily need to know the person so well to know that they are not that great, it comes through in the way they treat people. You signed up for this so take the good with the bad. Yea a lot of your subscribers go too far and I am sorry for that, but don’t make all muslims look bad by making even the kind, loyal followers fall into the same category of extremists. Educate yourself, don’t be so ignorant of the religion, for gods sake you just came back from the holiest of places, have some respect for others if you don’t have it for yourself. And stop adding to everyone else’s negative stereotype of islam, why don’t you support your people and maybe back the claims that some people make. Knowledge and kindness is the best policy.
Hi dear, I agree with you that some people come at me from a genuine place and others from a darker place. But i do not agree that i responded in “such a negative way” apparently “like i always do” ?????? Verbatim i responded “you shouldn’t take things so literally :)” – I get that you’re angry but I’m not understanding where you are coming from because i was not rude to her and i did not make fun of her. I even commented later to say that she wasn’t being rude at all and that people were commenting what they were commenting as blanket statements that every post of mine turns into a religious debate because while everyone’s comments were true and i agreed i wanted to make it clear that none of it was or should be directed towards that girl. so please, chill with the name calling. I have respect for myself and for others, i was nice to her and she was nice to me. again, chill.
& about it being shirk. I do not agree. I do not idolize her nor did i tell anyone else to worship her as a deity. When you call someone an angel do you literally mean they are an angel? when you call a loved one baby, are they literally a infant? how about doll? queen? princess? do they all of a sudden become those things? NO. You can twist any and every thing into something wrong, faulty, or sinful if you try hard enough. Life would be really freaking difficult if we were that dense. I don’t believe that you are, you seem sensible although angry ATM.
