Travel Diary: Hello, Maldives!

Hello my loves!!

I have some downtime in my room today so I’m trying to organize my footage and photos so far from my trip. I have a ton to sort through, so until I have the time to edit it all together I’ve put together a mini vlog to give you a little peek into my adventures here in the Maldives. In case you’re brand spankin’ new to my blog.. first, welcome!! I am currently in the Maldives working on a project and I’ve taken over everyone’s Instagram feeds because I can’t get over how magical this place is! I’m staying at the stunning Iru Fushi Beach & Spa Resort, it’s so peaceful and quiet here. This resort was designed around seclusion and relaxation and that is exactly what it embodies. Even though there are a few families here (mostly couples and honeymooners I’d say!), it’s all so private and quiet, nothing is ever crowded, you never hear children screaming.. or really anyone even talking. It’s just the perfect check-out destination. The Maldivian Vice President and one of the Saudi prince’s & his wife are here too so you know this place is luxurious! Aside from working I’ve been getting in a ton of me time… swimming in the ocean and our private villa’s pool every morning, going to the spa daily, eating constantly.. ugh going back to reality is going to be awful! A huge thank you to The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi for treating me like royalty when there is literal royalty staying next door! I truly hope everyone finds the opportunity to visit this country at least once in their lifetime, and then even more specifically.. this resort! I’ll update soon with a full post with a proper recap and photos, the photos at the end of this post are my Instagram snaps.

I’m off to get in an action packed day of water sports in a bit so I wanted to pop in and talk to you about this swimsuit I wore the other day (& will be wearing again today for all the activities!). It is from Calavera Swimwear and it’s from a special collection designed by Kim Saigh of LA Ink in collaboration with the Keep A Breast Foundation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. 50% of all sales will be going to Keep A Breast and their mission to eradicate breast cancer through educating young women.
  • Today, about 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime.
  • A woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes.
  • The chance that a breast cancer patient will be alive five years after diagnosis is lower in women under 40. Statistics indicate that tumors diagnosed in younger women may be more aggressive and less responsive to treatment, making early detection key.
  • With 40% of diagnosed breast cancers being self-detected it is important to check yourself, even as a young woman. Keep A Breast just launched an app that helps you do so, you can check it out HERE.
I’ve mentioned this in the video but I’ll mention it again here. I never used to do self exams, and randomly one day in college I decided to check in the shower and found a lump. I was so terrified; it was the first time I ever did a self exam and I felt something right away, I didnt know what to think! I made a doctor’s appointment and alhamdulilah it was a benign lump, nothing serious (which I chose to remove anyways), but it showed me just how important it is to be educated and aware. It’s so easy to get caught up in feeling invincible especially when we’re young.

Sorry to put a damper on the mood with all that but I thought it was extremely important to share! Enjoy my little vloggy, I also put up a What’s in my Travel Bag? video! Today’s a two-fer! Wish you were all here with me! xoxo
