As fashion week(s) is coming to a close, I’ve been thinking about the beauty looks we’ve been seeing on the runway and brainstorming for spring. With all the fresh inspo on my mind, I stopped by Ulta Beauty to pick up a few new products for the season! I was happy to see a ton of color instead of just classic natural beauty (which I do love and still included below btw!). All the colors and textures, like glitter & gloss, makes me remember that makeup doesn’t have to be serious or over-polished. It can be bold & it can be fun!
80s Blush Draping
Is it blush? Is it eyeshadow? I love the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s creeping into all things pop culture and being a girly girl myself. Heavy handed blush gives me serious heart eyes! Before I got more skilled with eyeshadow I actually used to wear my makeup like this quite a bit in college – blush high up on my cheekbones instead of on the apples of my cheeks and bleeding onto my eyelids in one fluid sweep! This is called draping and was the face chiseling of choice before contour became all the rage! This technique was seen on so many of the Spring 2017 runways and I’m so excited to break out my bright hues again! I picked up Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush in ‘Snapdragon’ from Ulta Beauty and it’s gorgeous for this look!
Au Naturel
Clean skin is forever timeless. With brows being the new black, a natural look keeps the focus on them (& your gorgeous skin!). I kept my foundation & concealer light, without any heavy contouring. To set the skin instead of baking or going matte, I gave myself an all over dusting of Honest Beauty’s Luminizing Powder in ‘Dawn Reflection’. It has a super lightweight texture and a subtle shimmer giving me a glow-from-within look. Flawless!
Glitter Strobing
Glitter was all the rage in 2016 (hello, glitter lips!) & I’m excited to believe that it’s here to stay! Being in the beauty space, I have to believe that Instagram and social media really fueled the normalcy of heavy glam. Glitter is no longer only appropriate during the holidays anymore! After packing the sparkle onto our lids and lips all year, it’s only natural that it made its way over to our cheeks! Holographic highlighters have been trending the past couple months as well so I thought I’d marry the two trends with a holographic loose glitter to strobe my cheeks – I picked up NYX Cosmetics Face and Body Glitter from Ulta Beauty and it made all my unicorn dreams come true!
Pastel Eyes
Riding the nostalgia wave some more. It makes me giddy to see pastels making a comeback! When I first started experimenting with makeup in high school, I’m pretty sure I only wore baby blue eyeshadow. The new LORAC ‘I Love Brunch’ PRO Palette gives me all the Britney Spears Oops! …I did it Again vibes that I could ever need! With a gorgeous mix of mattes and shimmers, this palette is perfect for Easter & the entire season!
