I’d always get so excited for CVS visits ever since I was a kid, they have everything! Snacks, magazines to thumb through, stationary, and as I got older – my interest in the beauty aisles evolved with me! From the days of strawberry glitter lipgloss to now enjoying products like dermatologist-approved skincare and luxurious cosmetics, I still feel a pang of excitement when it’s time for a CVS run! There has been a couple changes over the years though. For one, they’ve banned tobacco from their shelves and they’ve also increased their beauty offerings! Win-win! CVS is the destination for drugstore beauty, no longer just a place to pick up your prescriptions. With more than 7,600 stores nationwide, it’s very likely that there is one within 3 miles of your home. Off the top of my head, I can think of three locations within a one-mile radius of my home – score!
I popped in recently to replenish some of my favorite skincare products and I was so pleased to find every single item in my makeup-removing-skin-cleansing routine! You’ve heard me talk about all of these items before, & the fact that I still love them shows that they really stood the test of time for me. Select stores will provide personalized consultations and product advice from Beauty Consultants, who go through specialized training on several different topics – including skincare! So if you have some questions or issues that I can’t provide help with here, help is just a short (3 mile 😉 ) drive away!
I wanted to share my CVS skincare haul with you!
I don’t wear makeup often, but when I do I go the whole nine yards for a full-coverage look! With just a couple steps, I am able to gently remove everything. Even that stubborn gel liner!
First things first, get that gunk off your eyes! I go in with Almay’s eye makeup remover pads and am able to get everything off with a swipe or two! I use the longwear & waterproof formula. This formula is oily and really breaks down the product easily without much pressure, also never irritating my eyes.
While we’re talking about oil, Burt’s Bees cleansing oil is the bee’s knees! This has helped me tremendously when it comes to skin quality. Makeup removers can often-times be harsh and i noticed a huge difference in my overall complexion and texture (no more acne too!) after I ditched makeup removers completely and began using a natural product like this. I usually will use this to remove my eyes as well but if my mascara or liner are being stubborn, I go in with an almay pad for a little cleanup. I just massage this into my face and while the mix of oil and makeup is still on my face I’ll go in with a face wash as normal. Doing the oil and facewash in one step really gets the job done! My face feels so soft and hydrated after – no tightness or greasiness!
At this point my skin is almost perfectly clean. For months my cleansing routine stopped right here and my skin was in great shape with no breakouts. Now I take cleansing a step further and my skin continues to look better and better! To make sure every little bit of makeup is off, I go in with a micellar water to grab whatever got left behind.
CVS carries french pharmacy staples like Bioderma and LaRoche Posay – I’ve been obsessing over the latter’s micellar water for months! I went in for a new bottle since mine has about a quarter left but I thought I’d try another brand and see if I love it just a much! I picked up Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water and think it’s quite comparable to LaRoche Posay’s! Where has micellar water been all my life!?
At this point we’re all clean! After using a micellar water I don’t even feel the need to moisturize sometimes!
If my skin has been a little dull, sometimes I like to finish off with a peel pad. I really love Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix, and they are at such a great price point for what they do as well!

whats your filmin lighting?
I love and all the corresponding pictures are amazing!
Wow! Thank you for sharing, Irene! I’ve always been looking into changing up my makeup cleansing routine, and I’m so pleased to have come across yours at a nice price point. I have pimples occasionally due to my horrible combination skin, so I can’t wait to test these out. 🙂
