GRWM IMATS Afterparty + NYX Giveaway!

Happy Sunday!

Last weekend was IMATS LA and I just loved my makeup for the NYX afterparty! I’m so glad I had the camera rolling while I was getting ready. It’s so funny because I always feel like I wear a lot of makeup but then when I go to these beauty events and see all these flawlessly beat faces everywhere I feel like I have nothing on haha so this time I really caked on my undereye concealer, don’t be alarmed! 😉

I’m sure you guys saw on my social media how legit the swag bag was that we all got at the end of the night. I’ve barely even made a dent in last year’s bag so I decided that this year the right thing to do is to gift most of it to you guys! I’ll be holding a giveaway this week with multiple winners – I wanted to include it in this video but it’s so much to sort and organize I didn’t want to delay getting my video up. Make sure you’re following me on Twitter & Facebook because I’ll be updating/tweeting regularly with all of the details: how to enter, what the grand prizes are, etc! You do not want to miss out!

Enjoy the tutorial!

BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation | Review & Swatches

BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation

Ladies, meet my new favorite foundation! BECCA just introduced their latest foundation (& its permanent!!): Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation. This foundation wears like skin, has a dewy, luminous (duh!) finish, and has some serious staying power! Being a dry gal, this water-like foundation is heaven sent. You all know I’ve been loving NARS’ All Day Luminous Foundation as well and although both of these are watery they are very very different. NARS All Day Luminous is very full coverage even with just a drop, but feels and looks a bit greasy on the skin especially after wearing it all day. BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation has a lighter coverage but is very buildable and even though it has a pretty dewy & luminous finish it never looks or feels greasy – it’s actually quite skin-like! To give you a look at it’s staying power, watch my brown liquid lips for brown girls video if you haven’t seen it yet (or pay it a re-visit!).. that was my first time trying out the new foundation and I filmed that video after almost 24 hours of wear, including a 7 hour “nap” — blergh don’t ask lol. It was a day of blunders and I should never be wearing makeup for that long; let alone sleep in it or be possessed to film in it after that long, it ended up being the perfect field test to see how the product fairs. It required no reapplication, just a few swipes of my foundation brush (with no new product) to smooth out my old lady lines and creases; and I was camera ready! Again, my opinion of course is based off of my personal experience so keep in mind that I have dry skin. I don’t know how this will fair with someone with oily skin but since it doesn’t have an oily feel or finish I would hope that a mattifying primer would be enough to make this product work!

Currently there are only 8 shades but BECCA’s Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation is supposed to adjust to your skintone, and I can honestly say that this foundation in the shade Tan is the best matching foundation I own. For reference I wear MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC 42-44. It does oxidize on the skin quickly but perhaps that is its adjusting properties? I am not really sure. I was debating between Tan Warm Honey but the latter was just too dark on me. Warm Honey‘s golden shade is so drool-worthy I wish I could have made it work! Complexion goals. Going back to its complexion matching properties: BECCA recommends that you do not swatch this foundation on the back of your hand, but directly to your face to make your shade selection!

(Open up this post to see swatches!)

BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation is available @ Sephora.com as of 1/12/16 but won’t be available in store until near the end of the month. I don’t see it on BECCA’s website yet either so head on over to Sephora.com!

Selena Gomez Inspired Makeup & Hair | Hands to Myself

Hi Dolls! Gosh this video is so long over due!! Snapchat fam.. do you remember seeing me dying my clip-on bangs forever ago?? I kept putting this video off because I don’t like wearing my hair straight out so finding the right time to squeeze in a sleek look was annoying lol #girlproblems

I was inspired by Selena Gomez’s sexy look in the Hands to Myself music video. Gosh what a babe! Her hair, makeup, body, confidence were all on point. I wore my Cleopatra bangs by Bellami Hair (use code irene for a discount!), and the reason I had to dye them was because they originally were the shade mochaccino brown when my hair was lighter about a year ago, I dyed them blue black but Bellami carries jet black already so you won’t have to do all that work! Enjoy the tutorial!

Easiest Smokey Eye Ever

Happy Fri-YAY!!!

I have an easy peasy glam look for you just in time for the weekend!! I call this, the easiest smokey eye ever! I’m all about lazy girl hacks and the best thing that’s happened to my eye-makeup game is Stila’s Magnificent Metals Eyeshadows! Most of the time i just pat a little on my lid, highlight my brow bone with a light colored eyeshadow and call it a day. The finished look always looks like I spent a lot of time on my eyes when I really haven’t. I’ve been using Comex Gold for the longest time but I picked up a couple new shades at Frends Beauty a few weeks back! In this look I am using the shade Titanium. I hope you guys love this look! xo

Brown Liquid Lips for Brown Girls

Happy New Year my loves!!

I’ve been putting this video off until after the holidays but just my luck, my two New Years Eve tutorials I had finished to go up while I was in Europe are stuck in limbo right now :-/ it’s a long story but hopefully they will be recovered asap as they are two of my favorite tutorials I’ve done yet. sighh BUT! The good news is that I’m obsessed with this video I have for you today!! I’ll be showing you my collection of brown liquid lipsticks. I think it’s so important to see proper lip-swatches of these on someone that is close to your complexion so I hope my medium-toned babes will find this video extra helpful. When it comes to brown or nude lipsticks it’s very hard to tell how they will translate on your skin, do you remember when Anastasia released “Pure Hollywood” and everyone went nuts over it?? Well, when I finally got my hands on it, it looked like chalk on me!! Womp womp.

While you’re watching this video you might be thinking that some of these colors aren’t even close to being brown and my theory for that is… erhm my skin is brown! If I wear a shade super close to my skin color then the lippie will look nude, if there’s any pink in it it’ll look mauve and if its super cool toned then it will lean towards grey. The only shade that really truly looks brown on my complexion is (perfectly named) “True Brown K” by Miss Kylie Jenner. And to those wondering, no they are not repackaged Colourpop cosmetics liquid lipsticks. The formula is completely different but you cannot beat Colourpop’s range of colors or price point!
