Adding a Humidifier to Your Beauty Routine

Nosebleeds, eczema, itchy, scaly skin.. the reasons why I’ve always kept a humidifier in my bedroom since childhood are endless; but I could never tell if the air in my bedroom actually felt different than the rest of the house. Sometimes I felt like I had to have it blasting directly on my face in order to feel the hydrating comfort on my skin, eyes, and nose – but who wants to wake up clammy and damp?! I recently set up my new Dyson Humidifier on my nightstand and not only does it not leave a 2 foot radius of damp everything, its Multiplier technology keeps the mist evenly distributed throughout the room. The air in my room finally feels different than the rest of the house and I’m loving this humidifier as an addition to my beauty routine. Yes, beauty routine! I’ve recently gotten much more into skincare, I always say that I wish I began sooner in my 20s but.. better late than never! My skin right now is the best its looked post-puberty so I’ll happily choose this 29 year old face over my 22 year old previous face haha. Your skin rejuvenates and repairs itself while you sleep and a young looking face is a well hydrated face. So while my skin is soaking up all the oils and creams I slather on before bed, the water I gulp down before I shut the lights off, I now know that my skin is also drinking up the water in the air thanks to my Dyson humidifier. As I mentioned earlier, the moisture is distributed evenly throughout the room and with its Intelligent Climate Control it measures both the temperature and moisture in the air to create a comfortable environment, never over-humidified. Although this appliance was a winter addition to my home, it has dual functionality for year round use – delivering hygienic and even humidification in the winter and cooling air for the summer.

I’m at that stage in my life where we are beginning to plan for a family, and although I am not expecting, I am forever making mental-mommy notes. Aside from all of the beauty and comfort benefits of having a Dyson Humidifier in the room, its a very healthy addition as well. This humidifier uses Ultraviolet Cleanse Technology to kill 99.9% of bacteria in the water releasing hygienic mist and hydrated air into the room. Every single drop of water is exposed to a UVC light upon turning on the machine – it takes about three minutes before it begins to humidify. The amount of bacteria and yuckies that can grow in sitting water is a scary thing that becomes more alarming when babies are in the picture. This humidifier and its hygienic mist is definitely going to be staying with us as our family begins to grow – so although it is a pricy piece, its longevity and health benefits are worth the price tag IMO.

It retails for $499 but I found it on sale on Amazon for $479 HERE!

Holiday Glam w/ Ulta Beauty!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

I am so thankful and excited about this video I created with Ulta Beauty! It’s such an honor to be working with them as not only are they a household name but such a powerhouse retailer! Practically any beauty product you might need you will be able to find at Ulta; so it goes without explaining that every product used in this tutorial can be found there and I have everything listed below for your holiday shopping needs. I love the holidays because everything is a little bit more glittery and gilded.. That’s me all year round but at least during this time of the year nobody looks at me like I’m weird or gaudy 😉 This look is great to wear for Thanksgiving tomorrow or really anytime the next couple months! In my case & I’m sure many of you as well.. all year round! What do you think? Is glitter reserved just for this season or nah?

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators | Review & Swatches

Hello my loves!!! Sorry for the delay on this post, I know I mentioned on Instagram over the weekend that it would be going up that day. We hosted Friendsgiving on Sunday so that ended up occupying a lot more time than I thought – I actually still have to hand-wash all of my china as soon as I finish this post. *cries*

I’ve been wanting to try out Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey for the longest time but it’s always sold out when I actively look or I forget to check when I’m at the store. I finally scooped it up as well as the other illuminator shade, Ballerina. While I absolutely love both, I have to say that Gilded Honey is the bees knees – no pun intended! I don’t own it so I can’t give a definite comparison but it reminds me so much of MAC Whisper of Gilt with it’s super smooth and metallic finish. I’m obsessed! Finger swatches definitely appear more metallic than with a brush but it is so buildable! It really wears like MAC Extra Dimension Skin Finish (again, like Whisper of Gilt!). I love to mix golden and pink highlights so I picked up Ballerina as well, still a near opaque metallic swatch like Gilded Honey but not as bold! I like to wear Gilded Honey along my cheekbones with Ballerina on top just at the very peaks and then also my cupids bow & down the bridge of my nose.

I would jump on them online while they’re still in stock as it wasn’t the easiest to get my hands on Gilded Honey! I had to buy one online and one in store. As of the time I’m posing this.. they are both at Ulta.com!

Alaska | Fairbanks Travel Diary

Happy Fri-yay! Exactly two weeks ago I was stepping off of a plane in the northern-most city in the United States, located less than 200 miles south of the Arctic Circle – Fairbanks, Alaska! One of my husband’s dreams has been to see the Aurora Borealis, aka the Northern Lights, and its found its way onto my bucketlist as well. Periodically from time to time I check fares to Iceland and Norway with our Aurora dreams in mind but fares are always a bit pricey or we simply don’t have the time, especially now that we live on the West Coast crossing the pond aint so quick or easy! I randomly saw a great fare to Anchorage, Alaska from LA and I started to get curious and got my Google on. Can you see the Northern Lights in Anchorage? Oh, faintly? Well, where in Alaska can I get good viewings? Fairbanks! <– That was my train of Googling & internal thoughts. Turns out Fairbanks is an amazing place to catch the Aurora Borealis as it lies within the Aurora Oval. Places within the Oval will have viewings directly overhead – from further away you can view them closer to the horizon. Apparently there were gorgeous sightings in the horizon from our connecting flight from Seattle but of course we were sitting on the opposite side of the plane, womp womp. To make a long, bummer of a story short, the entire weekend was too cloudy to see anything and although I was so disappointed over it we seized our time and had an amazing weekend getaway together! Fairbanks is so beautiful and peaceful we had an amazing time just driving around, flying our 3dr Solo drone, and filming. Apparently Alaskans like to shoot drones out of the sky lol.. luckily our bird made it home safe and sound!
