South Asian Bride Magazine + Tutorial

I’ve been a huge fan and follower of South Asian Bride Magazine since my very early 20s – before Instagram & before I was even close to being a bride. What sparked my interest? The photography. As I was dipping my toes in the industry as a budding photographer I would flip through SAB’s huge glossy pages in awe, the quality of the collective work in their issues were always immaculate.. [real, working] fashion models, luxury designers, and top notch photographers. It’s hard to find Desi magazines that do it right, where they can actually sit amongst the Vogues & Harper’s Bazaars of the industry – SAB is it! And the fact that it’s an American publication is a huge deal. The South Asian entertainment industry in America is, generally speaking, non-existent; unlike the UK where excellence in our community is not only acknowledged but celebrated with events like the Asian Awards. My hope as we grow in numbers and continue venturing out of our boxes is that we become a true community, one that supports and celebrates one other. I’ll get off my soapbox in a moment haha but this is something I’ve always been passionate about. I always use the Latino community as an example – i love the way that they grow as a cohesive unit – The Alma Awards, Latin Grammys, Latin Billboards, Cosmo for Latinas, Etc would not exist without the support. Support = growth! & growth = quality media! [/end monologue]

When South Asian Bride Magazine reached out earlier this summer to feature me in a special edition issue amongst some pretty amazing women, I was beyond honored and excited! Their special Beauty & Fashion edition hit the shelves today, and you guys have to check it out – not just for the beautiful bloggers but the fashion spreads are just to die for! My gf Tamanna gorgeously graced the cover and I’m so excited to share the feature with super-sweetie, Farah Dhukai, who has become one of my dearest friends! I loved reading about Sharifa, Megha, & Uma who I don’t know too personally yet but hopefully that’ll change soon! Congrats ladies!!

How to: STROBING! + Highlighting Tips

Happy Sunday my loves, I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend! So many of you have asked for a strobing tutorial even though we all know that its the same thing as highlighting just sans the contour. I can’t live without my contour so I’ve put together a video with my highlight recipe 😉 — trust me when I say it’s layers upon layers lol. Highlighters are truly an addiction for me, let me know what your fav products are below! PS what do you guys think of my new filming set up?! This was my second go at it and I like it so much more than my last video! I’m just obsessed with how it looks in this video – it reminds me a lot of my photography work in motion! Let me know what you think!

Enjoy!

Retro Plum Makeup Tutorial

Back to liiiiiife, back to reality!

For those of you that were celebrating Ramadan & Eid – Eid Mubarak!!! I realize now that I need to pre-record/write all of my content before Ramadan haha! It was an amazing month but I’m not going to lie.. workwise, it was super unproductive. I spent Eid in Connecticut and New York, I made it back home last night, I’m feeling amazing after a long night’s rest, and I am ready to get back to work!! I filmed this tutorial hours before leaving for the East Coast last week and I was obsessed with the eyeshadow palette I used: Pür Minerals’ Soul Mattes. Its a neutral-ish palette, the colors are blush, plum, & brick toned – super earthy and feminine! The packaging is great and compact so I packed it with me for my trip and its the only eyeshadow palette I needed! Enjoy!

Hi guys!!! I put together a suuuuper easy tutorial today that I think would be perfect for Eid this week if you’re celebrating – it’s super simple, pretty quick, and looks like you put in a lot more time and effort than you really [secretly] did! Pops of color are a great way to fake it. Enjoy!

Green Eye + “Greige” Lip

Happy Monday! I’ve been playing around with more color lately and have been trying to step a bit outside of my comfort zone. I picked up Stone from MACs new range of matte lipsticks and I am obsessed with the color!! I call it greige… grey-beige, get it? I think my tube might be a dud though and I may have to go back and exchange it.. it just doesn’t wear like a matte, more like a satin or lustre booo! I do love the color though so I created a look around my lipstick of choice and ended up with a very muted, cool toned look. I hope you guys love it!
